Summer school enrollment is in two phases:

  1. Preliminary enrollment
  2. Registration

Preliminary enrollment

Every applicant must deliver a freeform description (max. 3 pages) about research interest including following information:

  • in which track will you participate? (Check the Program section for more information about the tracks.)
  • subject of the PhD studies and/or research interest.
  • goals of the research and current situation.
  • your expectations concerning the summer school.
  • publications

Send the freeform description about your PhD studies/research interests to Jarkko Suhonen, jsuhon@cs.joensuu.fi

Please provide the description in RTF- or PDF-format.

Participants will be primarily selected in the order of preliminary enrollment. However, the organizing committee may reject some of the applicants, if their subject of studies is not suitable to the theme of the summer school. In some cases, the organizing committee may also ask preferences from the supervisor of the studies. The amount of students selected to the summer school is about 35.

If you are interested in joining the summer school, please deliver the freefom desription about your studies or research interests to Jarkko Suhonen, jsuhon@cs.joensuu.fi before you make the registration.

The ICALT2004 registeration form includes also the summer school registeration. If you are attending both events please use the same form.

Fee includes; lectures and tutoring, materials, bus transportation to Mekrijärvi on Sunday evening, August 22, and transportation back to Joensuu on Friday afternoon, August 27, accomodation, two meals a day, breakfast, evening snack, social programme (sauna is available every day).
