Overview of TopicsThe aim of the summer school is to focus on both technical and educational aspects of educational technology. Projects are done in heterogeneous groups in order to foster multi-disciplinary approaches into educational technology design. The program of the summer school in 2003 consists of three tracks: General, Cultural Issues of Educational Technology, and Project Kitchen. Lectures will be constructed upon the expertise fields of the lectures. Track 1: GeneralThis track is intended for students interested in current topics of educational technology. Subjects covered in general track include contextualized learning technology in web-based learning, and wireless and mobile technology in education. Track 2: Cultural Issues of Educational TechnologyThis topic is related to the Second International Conference on Educational Technology in Cultural Context organized in conjunction with the summer school. In the workshop on cultural contextuality in educational technology, special attention is paid to approaches and methodologies, in close connection to different cultural settings and cases. The work to be done should be seen as a process, starting with short reports of the participants, where they deliver their ideas and experiences on the subject. Lots of exchange in the form of discussions, drafts for different approaches, possibly writing articles individually or in group is encouraged during the week. The group is summarizing its work in the conference on "Educational Technology on Cultural Context" through a small presentation, immediately after the summer school. The workshop is multidisciplinary and aimed at scholars working or wishing to work in the area of study. As well postgraduate students as senior researchers are welcome. The workshop is chaired by Dr. Esko Kähkönen from the University of Joensuu Track 3: Project KitchenThis track is a workshop for generating joint international projects funded by organizations like EU. |
