Presentations
Presentation is a compulsory part of the RE course.
In your RE group, based on the literature survey, prepare a 5-10 slides presentation, of duration 8-10 minutes.
During the designated time (see below), present the main points of your paper, support your arguments, provide illustrations, and give a meaningful example. Aim at raising discussion and questions. Each presentation need to present 2-4 questions for open discussion and lead the discussion after your presentation (5 minutes). Publish the questions also on your blog along with your presentation. The questions might become part of the final exam.
After your presentation, send the ppt/pdf to the instructor.
Schedule:
- 16.11. Petri & Joni; Raghu & Leke;
- 17.11. Saija & Petri; Ari; Petr
- 23.11. Kalle; Anand & Ali; Aki & Pankaj
- 24.11. Sita, Hao & Ding;Joonas & Toni; Arttu & Teemu
- December: work on your 2nd project.
What the presentation should contain?
Good presentation provides audience enough information about the
topic, but does not need to go to the detail (these are to be found
from the literature paper). After the presentation, a listener should
be able to connect the topic to other parts of the RE area, should
understand what are the foundations and underpinnings of the presented materials
and even be able to ask questions to fill the missing information.
It has been shown that only bullet points and lot of information in
slides is not an effective approach
(http://www.speakingaboutpresenting.com/design/new-evidence-bullet-points/). Instead, "using more pictures and as few words as you think you
can get away with" and putting ONLY those things that you think your
audience should focus on. See more tips at the end of the link.
