The Lisbon Treaty and the Czechs

You must have heard about the ratification process of LT. At the time of the writing, most countries 26 out of 28, the Irish included (they had a second go and said OK), had approved=ratified the treaty. Italy is just depositing the documents, so we have one and only remaining country. (Now, there is some talk about Ă…land, but let’s keep it out of business, no pun intended).

The last one is the Czech Republic. Can you now use the best of your imagination, and tell us all, what is the real reason?

hmmm… I have no idea about Czech politics. Just know that all the european history is complex.

    According to this article: http://thegovmonitor.com/world_news/europe/czech-president-klaus-still-holds-out-against-lisbon-treaty-10787.html
I see Mr. Klaus confused between past and present, now what is behind…. no idea.

    Good luck!

    Hi,

Any news? the decision should have been made public by now…

  3. roman Says:

The Constitutional Court today ruled, that the decision will be made after one week. The president cannot sign the treaty during the time the issue is at the Court.
In the meanwhile, some senators announced they will (again) submit complaints to the Constitutional Court. The Court investigates whether the LT is in line with the CZ constitution.

So the latest update is that the court approved the treaty. Now the last detail is the signature of the president.

Thanks for the update! Maybe now, you can be considered a full-right European after all!!
