Tournament story

The games were much tighter than last year. Several games lasted so long that the time limit of the tournament was reached before the last game, which was therefore agreed as a draw without a match. This was enough for Algorithmers to secure the victory of the tournament. Overall, the order of the Teams was complete reverse from the last year when Free Divers was the winner and Algorithmers the 4th.

The third game (Algorithmers-SIPU) was long and eventful. Algorithmers were attacking strongly and already had 4 kings at one point but the last king was still on its way when SIPU managed to capture one of the kings back in just few seconds before losing. Later Algorithmers had 4 kings again but did not place the last captured king on the board immediately but left it illegally aside the board, where SIPU simply stolen it back.

Few moments later one of the Algorithmers player managed to dump peaces on the board when climbing off the pool. At this stage, 40 minutes was already played. SIPU could have claimed victory here based on the rules, or the game could have been agreed as drawn as a fair conclusion. But the game was agreed to continue with the penalty that Algorithmers would lose all their fallen peaces. SIPU was up to 3-1 on the count of kings at this moment. However, Algorithmers managed to capture 3 kings in the next 2 minutes via strong swimming and won game after a long 42 minutes game. This eventually guaranteed the victory to the team.

Cemal got cramps in his leg during the 1st game of Massive Victory and could not continue playing. It was therefore agreed to revise the order of the games, and that both SIPU and Free Divers would contribute one spare player to Massive Victory Team for their last two games. Javier-Jukka-Pasi team then managed took victory from Free Divers, which eventually secured them 3rd place in the tournament.

The last game played was SIPU - Free Divers but the tournament ran out of time before it was completed. The game was agreed as a draw after 30 minutes in a situation where SIPU was up to 3-1 on the count of Kings. It was later agreed that in future tournaments, a time limit of, say 20 or 25 minutes, will be issued. If the game is not completed by that time, it will be called a draw and king counts will be used as a secondary score (similarly as goals in football).

To sum up: the games were eventful and a big fun!
