May 2006

A long chain of events have brought me back the Jayhawks, and all thanks to the technology. Let’s summarize:

  1. Get an iPod
  2. Subscribe to KEXP Music That Matters podcast.
  3. Listen to Podcast number 15 and discover that KEXP have a new blog.
  4. Read the blog and find a post about Mark and Gary, from the Jayhawks, playing at KEXP…
  5. Browse and listen the stream archives and find the actual moment the play there: Fri 12th May 15:30.
  6. Enjoy songs like “I’d run away” or “Over my shoulder” again

The Jayhawks were an important part of my second year at Joensuu, I cannot remember if it was Napster or the City Library that opened my eyes, but I clearly recall the bycicle trips to Noljakka singing Bad Time:

I’m in love but I feel like I’m living it out
I’m in love but I must have picked a bad time to be in love

I have talked about Aula before. This time they are organizing an interesting event at Helsinki called Movement. Usual suspects like Joi Ito (”WarCraft is the new golf”) and Martin Varsavsky (”The wifi movement”) will be there talking for FREE. If you are around Helsinki on June 14th book your place!
