In this course the we will cover some of the data models and database languages used in databases today. Relational algebra and database design will be covered to give a basis for database work. In order to better understand the functionality of database systems concurrency management and distributed databases will be looked at. The exercises will use Java (and possibly PHP) as the programming language to create database applications.

Schedule

The lectures will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays in room T/2D106 from 14-16. The lectures begin on the 11.9.2002. The lectures are held by Ramin Miraftabi.

The exercises will begin on the following week. The exersises are held by Petri Gerdt. The times and places are as follows:
