JOENSUUN YLIOPISTO Tietojenkäsittelytieteen laitos Usability Engineering / Käytettävyystekniikat EXERCISES 5/Week 16 14: X task UI Mock Ups Individually or in group of two (no more), build UI Mock Up _based on your previous CMDs_. Select a small subset of functionality to focus on the most important issues (e.g. parts that most of the users will use, critical situations and locations, major pathways). Sketch the exact UI design to establish enough context for users to understand the navigation and task. Include some content, however this is not the focus of this task. You can use explanations and comments (in empty windows) if necessary, to help the user understand the genereal purpose of each window. Buid the mock-ups using paper (screen size) or implement the desing in an HTML editor/Flash/vector graphics/VB or other prototyping tool. In case you are develop a program visualization tool UI, you can use fake but still realistic data/programs. Your visualizations migh be hand-drawn and pre-made. Importance here is to support formal evaluation by showing broad design ideas. !! important: Make copies/screenshots of your work. If your mock-ups are located on the Internet provide a link. Take the copies of the documents and print-outs with you to the demo. Print your name(s) on them !! They will be collected for evaluations after demo. In order to complete the exercise, you shall come to the demonstration and be ready to present and discuss your solutions. No emails necessary this time. (In the next weeks, you will continue developing the application by updating the mock-ups, including a bit more of the funtionality and content and running a user test.) 15: (3 points) Come to present your mock-ups for evalution to the Usability/Cognition Laboratory, room 2D303. Laboratory is located at the third floor of the Department of Computer Science. Please, gather before the given time (read below, groups were created last week) near-by the lab, Minna will pick you up. Since the lab cannot accomodate more than 15 people at once, we need to split your demo group into two, each will take 50 minutes in the lab. The first groups will come from 14:15 (Finnish group) or 16:15 (foreigh students). The second groups will come from 15:05 (Finnish group) and from 17:05 (foreign students).
