Keynote Speakers

Boubakar Barry

Dr. Boubakar Barry is the Coordinator of the Research and Education Unit of the Association of African Universities (AAU). Previously he acted as Director of the Computer Center and IT Director of Cheikh Anta Diop University, Senegal. He is involved in several activities related to ICT throughout African. He has been Senegal’s focal point for the Regional Information Society Network for Africa (RINAF) and team leader of the "Low Cost Hardware and Software" Working Group. As executive administrator, he managed several initiatives and projects on ICT in Senegal and Africa, in co-operation with international institutions like UNESCO and CTA (Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Co-operation). Mr. Barry led in the last 10 years several regional training workshops on ICT as course director and was national coordinator of the Teacher Training Network. He is involved in several research activities on Computer Networks and Wireless Telecommunications. From e-learning Africa portal

Bryan Eldridge

Bryan Eldridge holds an M.Ed. in Computer Based Education from the University of Georgia and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Kentucky. He has over 20 years of experience in the design, development, delivery, implementation, evaluation, and management of educational products and enterprises. He has done extensive work on ICT in Africa, and has recently been appointed as ICT expert for Qatar's K16 education. His main areas of focus include custom applications of traditional Instructional System Design (ISD) models, learning object creation and management, learning object repositories, digital repository configuration, mobile learning solution design, and metadata strategy development. He has classroom teaching experience across the entire lifespan of students and learners. He currently facilitates strategical planning workshops and presentations on planning and implementing large-scale technologically-based educational platforms for Fortune 500 companies and higher-education organizations around the globe.

David Wiley

Dr. David Wiley is Associate Professor of Instructional Psychology and Technology at Brigham Young University. He is also the Chief Openness Officer of Flat World Knowledge and Founder and board member of the Open High School of Utah. He was formerly Associate Professor of Instructional Technology and Director of the Center for Open and Sustainable Learning at Utah State University. David has been a Nonresident Fellow at the Center for Internet and Society at Stanford Law School, a Visiting Scholar at the Open University of the Netherlands, and a recipient of the US National Science Foundation's CAREER grant. David is also the Founder of OpenContent.org and was recently named one of the 100 Most Creative People in Business.
