Master's Degree in Information Technology

IMPIT is an international master's degree programme in information technology in Finland.  The programme aims at offering an international master's degree in IT at the european standards in less than two years. The prerequisite is BSc. level education with a background in Computer Science, IT or related discipline. The language of instruction is English.

Unlike in other programmes in Europe, currently there are no tuition fees. A limited number of scholarships for very exceptional students can be awarded on a competitive basis. See recent grants awarded and available on the scholarships page.

2010 application call is open now.  Check the admission page for more information.

The first year of the information technology degree programme consists of master, advanced and elective level computer science studies and the second year is reserved for individual work on an it-project (a larger software project) and on a master's thesis. One of the aims is that as many students as possible can be employed by a Finnish ICT-company during the second year. Research orientation is also possible to integrate into the degree studies as students can join several research groups at the Departments. The awarded master's degree is accepted in Europe, USA and world-wide as a qualification for PhD postgraduate studies. For post-graduate opportunities, see impdet.org. Our graduates are employed around the Europe and world-wide.

In this master's degree programme you can study also at the University of Eastern Finland (Joensuu and Kuopio campuses) and Lappeenranta University of Technology. The application is common for all three universities.
