1. Are there any scholarships or grants?

IMPIT provides a limited number of scholarships on a competitive basis. They are open for application once a student arrives to Joensuu and proves academic excellence.
In addition, the second year of studies consists of special project and master's thesis work and is usually conducted in an industry project or at some research project. These projects often provide funding that student can use towards covering expenses from the first year of studies.

2. What are the expenses for one year of living and studying in IMPIT?

We estimated that a person needs about 6000 euro to cover a whole year (12 months) of studies in IMPIT. This includes all fees, accomodation, food, and other casual expenses. IMPIT students are not required to pay tuition fees at the UEF. LUT has tuition fee and scholarship system starting from 2012.

3. I have not received the admission certificate, what should I do?

Processing the applications takes time, we receive over 120 applications each year. We usually publish the results of the selection process online as soon as they are known, and mail the certificates in the shortest time possible. If you were selected, please wait for a while till the letter is delivered via surface mail. Only if it takes more than 8 weeks after the selection is published, contact impit.

4. How to travel from Helsinki to Joensuu?

If you arrive by air to Helsinki, you have have few options depending on your budget.

Most comfortable and relatively cheap is to use train (http://www.vr.fi/eng/) which takes about 60e and 5 hours. Tickets are sold at the Helsinki train station, last train leaves Helsinki at around 18:00. To get from the Helsinki Vantaa airport to the city center, take either a Finnair shuttle (about 7 euro, 45 mins) or one of the city busses (cheaper, slower).

Fastest connection is by airways. At the moment, finncomm airlines (http://fc.fi) flyes several times a day at reasonable rates. Finnair has its connections to Joensuu too (http://finnair.fi).
