Completing thesis and studies
After your thesis is ready (i.e. after you and your supervisor agree on that it is indeed ready), you need to proceed according to the following guidelines.
- Get all compulsory studies completed and registered, including the Personal study plan.
- Prepare a research-release (tutkimustiedote) that provides basic information about your work.
- Submit your thesis to the faculty, by giving it to the dept. office. Attach the research release.
- Agree with your supervisor on the date of Maturity examination and pass it. (1 day)
- Once reviews of the work are ready (takes up to 5 weeks), you either agree with the grade and apply for your degree, or further examination of the work needs to be done by the faculty meeting (this means your graduation will be prolonged).
- Apply for and receive the overall computer science grade, usually from the vice-head of the dept. Takes about 3-5 days.
- Fill in the form to apply for MSc degree (form available here). Faculty will award you degree (can take 1-2 weeks). They can mail the degree certificate to your address.
